Making a Difference in Mhotivo

A Commitment To Community

People are at the heart of everything we do — and that means more than just SanMar employees. We strive every day to connect employees and their families to our customers, so that we make a positive impact in the communities they share.

That’s why we’ve chosen to support the important work of the Mhotivo School in Choloma, Honduras.

The Mhotivo School Foundation was founded in 1992 to provide students in Honduras with a safe and accessible space to receive an education, participate in athletic programs, and access technology and other technical skills.

Elcatex, a SanMar manufacturing partner in Choloma, is closely linked to the school and supports many employees’ families in the region. Our support of the Mhotivo School Foundation is a natural extension of our work in Honduras, and our commitment to create meaningful connections that elevate lives.

2022 Expansion

SanMar collaborated with the W. Duke Kimbrell Family Foundation, an affiliate of yarn manufacturer Parkdale Mills, to fund an expansion of the Mhotivo School.

The new facilities, which included 22 classrooms, a computer lab and additional administrative offices to accommodate 600 new students, opened in spring 2024.

“I have witnessed the incredible impact of the Mhotivo School on local children and their families. This investment is a testament to the hard work of the school’s staff, the success of their students and to the inspiring vision of a few community leaders.”

— Renton Leversedge, Chief Development Officer

Ongoing Support

In 2024, Reciprocity Road, a buying group of 13 promotional product distributors, visited the Mhotivo School with representatives from SanMar. They witnessed firsthand the positive impact of the promotional industry’s contributions on the Choloma community and were inspired to support the school.

As a result, Reciprocity Road pledged funding to support the school’s infrastructure and scholarship programs in partnership with SanMar. This was the first time Reciprocity Road united to make a significant donation to an international beneficiary, marking a new chapter in its commitment to global impact.

"I can never look at a t-shirt the same way again. It’s just a simple t-shirt, but all of these lives are impacted and touched. We’re making sure we’re putting support back into this fragile infrastructure.”
— Perry Wehrle, Executive Director of Reciprocity Road
